Welcome to #52WeeksOfComics
My current personal project is an artist challenge I’ve created called #52WeeksOfComics. As it implies, I will be a drawing a comic—regardless of length or style— every week for 52 weeks: an entire year of comics!
As a challenge to myself (and other illustrators) and to improve in something important to me, I will be attempting to complete a comic every week. I’m drawing comics live on Twitch every Sunday afternoon and posting my process work on Patreon before posting the completed comic here.
Comics will be posted here every week, so stay tuned!
I’ve always loved comics. but I’ve always been too lost in myself or too self-conscious to show anything about my experiences and my life, and never pursued story-telling in any capacity. I never thought my experiences were valuable and always too embarrassed by my stories to put them on paper; never mind draw them out.
So I finally decided to start now, rather than when I planned (when I started testosterone), to mark the beginning of this weird time during the pandemic.
Exercises like this help me keep track of time going by, and I feel it’s important to stay aware of how long this impacts us. I also thought that seeing the impact of the pandemic on my transition would be interesting and potentially important.
I began thinking about this project when I first started transitioning. I quickly learned that on top of my pre-existing health issues, I simply couldn’t afford to transition. Not only that, but a lot of other trans-people are in the same boat—that made me want to start documenting my life living low-income and transitioning post-puberty.
That’s why I started a Patreon Page, to fund my medical needs to transition.
I started a Patreon page after quickly learning that on top of my pre-existing health issues, I simply can’t afford to transition. Not only that, but a lot of other trans-people are in the same boat—that made me want to start documenting my life and transition in a more intimate way.
Please consider supporting me in these trying times and I thank you for getting to the end of this lengthy post; look forward to new comics every Friday/Saturday to keep you entertained in quarantine!
Until next time,
